HomePortfolio Hires Industry Veteran Ellen Glew as VP Marketing & Business Development
Newton, MA (PRWEB) October 4, 2007 -- HomePortfolio®, the market leader in collaborative search for home design products and services, today announced the appointment of Ellen Glew to its senior executive team as Vice President, Marketing & Business Development.
"Ellen has deep roots in the home design industry, and hands-on expertise growing companies," says Rolly Rouse, co-Founder and CEO of HomePortfolio. "She brings twenty-five years of marketing and sales experience, fifteen in the architecture/design market, to the HomePortfolio team." In 1992 Glew founded her own trade show company, which launched the Restoration & Renovation show and ran it for many years. In 2000 she sold that series of events, now known as the Traditional Building Exhibition and Conference, to Restore Media. More recently Ellen has worked with a variety media companies serving the home design market, including Gloucester Publishers (which publishes Old House Interiors and Arts & Crafts Homes). Earlier in her career, Ellen headed up international business development for the famed Comdex computer trade show.
"I am excited by the prospect of applying my trade show and media experience to the most forward-looking Internet company in the home design vertical space," said Glew. "The Web is transforming the residential home design market, and HomePortfolio is the only Internet company that truly enables consumers, manufacturers, local showrooms, and design professionals to collaborate efficiently."
Research shows that consumers and design professionals are increasingly going to the Web first to find products for their interior design and home improvement projects, and that they want a decision-making process that's faster, easier, and more collaborative. Product manufacturers and local retail showrooms are also actively turning to the Web to market their products, grow brand awareness, and drive offline purchases. They are seeking more efficient tools to reach out to consumers and design professionals, and not just via their own Web sites.
"We are currently witnessing a tremendous shift in marketing dollars from traditional to digital media, especially to search advertising," said Rouse. "HomePortfolio has reached an inflection point, and Ellen is the perfect person to lead marketing and sales as we ride this once-in-a-lifetime wave of new media preferences. We are thrilled to have her as part of our growing team of professionals."
